Stock up during Washington Wine Month
By Bob Woehler
If you are the type of buyer who's never bought a case of
wine at one time, September is a good month to indulge.
September is annual Washington Wine Month at state liquor stores
when well-known Washington wines are on sale. And if you buy a case,
an additional 10 percent is taken off the top.
You can mix or match these wines, and the frugal buyer can snap
up 12 bottles of various types of wines that can average less than
$5 each.
Even at, say, $8 a bottle, a buyer can end up with a dozen good
cabernet sauvignons, merlots, chardonnays and fumé blancs.
A good tip is to get in early next month and stock up because
some of the wines may be sold out before the month is over. Not
every store has everything, but all should have a good selection.
An alphabetical listing of most of the wineries taking part and
