The Best
Little Wine Shop in West Seattle
By John W. Schultz
This unique wine shop may be small, but it has a
big heart. Philanthropist/musician/computer programmer and Wine
enthusiast “Bear” Silverstein owns and runs this oasis of
interesting wines.
Bear regularly makes buying trips to small-production Washington
and Oregon wineries to purchase unique and interesting wines that
are not available in the Seattle area. The wines he brings back from
these buying trips are usually available only at two places, the
Winery and West
Seattle Cellars. Many of the highest quality and most
interesting wines are made at these small production, boutique
wineries. Experimental and small lot wines that may not otherwise
see the inside of a Seattle wine shop are great candidates to make
the truck ride home to West Seattle Cellars. If you want to see the
bright future of Washington State wines, visit Bear and pick up a
few hard to find gems.
Bear’s extensive traveling, many years of filling his own
personal cellar, and his regular Washington winery visits give him a
depth of knowledge matched by few in the Northwest. If you are
buying for your cellar or just need a bottle for dinner he’s a super
resource that’s just a phone call away.
If you’re in the neighborhood, or even if you just need a reason
to go to West Seattle, drop into one of Bear’s famous Thursday night
tastings: every Thursday, from 6:00-8:00 PM. There's no charge for
these tastings, and no reservations are needed. Just drop on by,
pick up a glass, and see what tickles your fancy!
West Seattle Cellar has a long tradition of excellent customer
service with quick order turn-around times. Have a wine question?
Give Bear a call or send him an email.
Cheers!
