Party
Planning Guide
By Andrew Campbell
It’s party time! Planning a party, but don’t
know how many beverages to have for your guests? Fear not, for
WineSquire has the answers with the WineSquire.com Party
Planning Guide!
Here is the truth, the literal writing on the wall: two
alcoholic drinks per person. That is all you have to figure when
throwing a party with alcohol For most, two drinks will be more
than enough to celebrate the function; for the rest you'll find
some guests choosing to refrain from alcohol altogether, while
others will pick up their slack.
There are some tenets to go with the two drink rule:
|
|
|
- normal 750ml bottles of wine get 4-6 glass pours
- sparkling wine gets 6-8 glass pours per 750ml bottle
- white wine is typically drunk 2:1 over red wine.
The variations in number of glasses per bottle depends on
serving size of course,
and unless you absolutely know your guests
dislike white wine, it's a statistical inevitability that you'll
go through 2 bottles of white per bottle of red with any kind of
group function. The two drink per person rule includes all
alcoholic drinks (beer, cocktails and wine)--it does not include
non-alcoholic drinks (water, soda, juices).
Below are some tables showing quantities to expect for dinner
parties and larger events such as weddings, backyard BBQs, and even
corporate bashes!
