Jameson Fink
Contributor
While working part-time at Randolph Wine Cellars in Chicago, I
got the opportunity to spend two months in Burgundy working the
harvest at Domaine Nicholas Potel. After this experience I decided
to move to Seattle to work in the wine industry full time.
Currently I am a sales representative for LBV Wine Merchants.
I run an irreverent, candid wine blog (le wine blog) at
http://vouvray.blogspot.com.
I love wines with balance and elegance; my idea of heaven is a
great Chablis and a plate of oysters. |

Domaine de Rozets Coteaux du Tricastin 2003 (France) $8
It is amazing to think how a wine can come all the way from France
and be on the shelf under ten bucks. This Grenache/Syrah blend
(with a pinch of Cinsault) is a joy to drink; definitely a quaffer
and a crowd-pleaser.

Joan d'Anguera La Planella 2003 (Spain) $18
This Spanish blend from Montsant (the region surrounding Priorat)
is a big, lusty blend of Cabernet, Syrah, and Grenache. It has all
the richness and concentration you would expect from the vintage
and the region yet remains balanced and distinctively Spanish. An
outstanding value!

Fiddlehead Cellars Happy Canyon Sauvignon Blanc 2004 (Oregon) $25
Kathy Joseph is crafting stunning, age-worthy Sauvignon Blanc in a
very warm region of the Santa Rita Hills. These are rich,
Bordeaux-styled Sauvignon Blancs that cry out for scallops in a
beurre blanc. The Fiddlehead Sauv Blancs also achieved
well-deserved notoriety in the movie Sideways, as a favorite of
Maya's. The Happy Canyon is also available in half-bottles, aka
"Little Fiddles". |
