WineSquire Tasters
From time to time, the WineSquire.com staff will taste
wines we have received as samples. Thought not all wines tasted may be reviewed,
we will highlight those we find to be well made and good value.
We may also post reviews of the wines tasted from private cellars.
Though these wines will generally no longer be available for sale, the
reviews may provide helpful insights to how other wines of that
vintage/region/winemaker are maturing.
Wines tasted in this manner will be indicated as "WineSquire
Tasters" as the author of the review. See below for the wines we have
highlighted to date:

DeLille Cellars D2 1997 (Washington) $22
Two and one half years in the cellar has served this wine perfectly and
is drinking beautifully (Aug '02). Nicely balanced fruity plum and
current flavors blend smoothly with with light cedar and pepper-spice.
Rich and enjoyable, DeLille's "second label" bordeaux-style red blend
offers an inviting complexity the wine lover can explore. Good on it's
own and with food--and this is one red that really does go well with
chocolate! If you have some, start drinking them now. |

Carmenet Dynamite Merlot North Coast 1999 (California) $18
Cherries! This full-flavored red is bursting with dark ripe fruit.
Inky-red with a luscious round mouthfeel like biting into a homemade
blackberry pie. Complex hints of burnt cherry wood, tobacco and cassis.
Crisp acid balance cleans palate without overstimulating your tastebuds.
This merlot rises above the ordinary under $20 bottles and is great for
drinking now! -WineSquire Tasters |

Acacia Chardonnay Carneros 2000 (California) $15
This juicy chardonnay has huge honey-lemon flavors with notes of
japanese pear and demerara sugar, followed by a grassy sauvignon blanc
edge. Underneath is a gentle vanilla and nutmeg spice from light oaking.
Well-balanced and yummy, we kept tasting more with every sip! -WineSquire Tasters |

Napa Ridge North Coast Zinfandel 1997 (California) $9
This friendly little zin has been winning friends all over the place.
The 96 won a gold medal at the 2000 Los Angeles Wine Fair, and the 97
doesn't disappoint. Presents a lightly spiced juiciness, with dusty,
brambly, soft tannins. Easy drinking and matching with any food that you
would pair with a red. A great value at under $10. -WineSquire Tasters |

Mission Hill Pinot Blanc 2000 (Canada) $10
Aromas of grapefruit, peach and melon meld beautifully with the crisp
juicy flavors of citrus, ripe apple and grapefruit. A seriously lush dry
white wine from the Great White North that has a not so serious price. A
great value! -WineSquire Tasters |
